Edit yeah just noticed you said free item that might be it have to check on how that would work in SMF I had the user's email but without payment I have no email hmmm.

Do you need the email?  Can't they just redirect to a download link, or a page with a button that starts the download?

I'm sure they could just input their email for a download link otherwise.  :D

I'm just going for ease of use here, as having to register puts about 80% of people off.

I guess for free downloads. Just show a list of links for them would work will check it out this weekend.

Any news on this?  It's a big thing for my site as I give away books as loss leaders, and having to register really limits downloads. (Actually had two people complain about it!!)

 :'(

Maybe there's a way to just link to a file stored at a url for this?  I could do a quick and dirty hack for it if you tell me how!

I'd just really like to be able to let guests download free items!
