How can I add a field for Vin Number input?

I want to allow car sales on my site...
I would want to make a VIN # mandatory for any vehicle or boat or motorcycle...
So how can I add this in? to a requirement when listing an item?

When you edit the category by clicking the [Edit] link in the options column.

Near the bottom of the edit category page. Is an area called custom fields.

In that area you can setup custom fields and indicate if they are required or not.

Yes I saw that and thought that was correct but was not sure so I did not set it up..

Ok so I see I can edit the main cat...
However when I attempt to edit the second level or the sub which now I do see an image but My main one still does not...
I can change information but I do not see a save settings all I see is a back to classifieds down at the bottom...

Ok I have three screen shots I have just made to help aid you...
first one is of the main cats yes were are working on colors...lol
the second one is where I go to edit the sub cat  I know this much...
The third shows no way to save the settings...that I can see...


I have also checked here and below this I see notify me of replies by I am not getting emails and the account information is correct...

I see how now you have to select more attachments...

Custom fields need to be setup for each category. They are category level specific.

OK the bottom one is main I should have a picture of a Big car lot there for Automobiles...

The middle one is when I click on sub nav for New cars with the truck out to the right is where I can click on edit and I do so to arrive at the section  posted in the top picture...

There should be pictures displayed all the way from main index of cats to the sub listing to the actual motor cycle listing...

You mean for the vin I accidentally jumped from picture issues to saving the cat issue all is running together...
